A few years ago, my daughter decided to give her poor Mother a unique 80th birthday present, three sessions of help from an organizing specialist. I knew it was a good idea and that I desperately needed help, even though my own work history related to organizing various tasks for many different work environments. I did keep saying I wished I could hire the old me; somehow that is what was accomplished although Kathleen Green is stronger than I was and definitely more patient.
Kathleen helped me get a better grip on finishing things at the time, getting rid of what I did not need (she was very understanding of my need to keep things because ‘I might need that someday so why should I buy another?’ — responding to that question with ‘If you have not used it in a year, then it owns you, you don’t own it.’) She never made fun of me or criticized me but I came to see that I was ridiculous in many ways.
So when faced with an impossible task a few years later, I called Kathleen and asked for her help in getting rid of four floors worth of stuff, mine and others left in the building in the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. I was the caretaker of a building where no one before me threw anything out either and I was going to move to another state and did not want to leave it for anyone else to have to deal with as well. It was an impossible task but I knew that would not slow Kathleen down.
It was done efficiently and we definitely both enjoyed ourselves in the process. We trashed so much stuff that we had a truck service come multiple times, knowing that they would go through what they trucked away to see if there was anything to go to Salvation Army, et cetera, so nothing would be wasted.
There is no way I could have done this building clearing alone even if I had years to accomplish it; there is no way I could have done it with even four helpers. It was Kathleen who set the pace and drove the effort. If I tired, she would sit me down, hand me a box and ask me to pick out what I wanted to keep; I would forget I was tired and become very involved in the task she set me. We did it in record time and I am proud of both of us.
I recommend Kathleen wholeheartedly and promise you that you will not regret it. She will listen to you, respect you and work with you, all the while she educates you about what has been holding you back, putting you in the condition that makes you need her help. And that teaching works as I am not the person I was with regards to things before working with her. I admire her skills and her work ethic and her ability to get someone like me, ill and weak and surrounded by things, to get moving and be glad to have fewer things in the end.
If anyone in the area of Philadelphia needs a home organizer, if they are also smart, they will choose you. There are probably many within the area that have training and are skillful but few, anywhere, have your genius for asking the right questions, carefully listening and then allowing the one in need to see the wisdom of what you are saying and appreciating being heard. Also, your magic for compromise, teaching the client how to keep less of something that truly matters and is really unnecessary. You are one of the best choice I ever made and I had to clean up 50 years of collecting while hating to throw anything away (but I might NEED it someday). You are one very gentle yet very strong lady and I am proud to have made you my friend.
"Kathy is brilliant! If you feel like you don't have enough space in your home, contact her now. She is quick to respond, reliable, experienced, fun, and effective. What sets Kathy apart is her intelligence and approach.
Kathy takes the time to listen. I first contacted her after moving back into my parents’ house which was overrun with clutter and too much stuff. Before charging me a dime, she and I messaged back and forth for several weeks before speaking on the phone multiple times. She seemed smart, easy to talk to, and helpful; so I hired her.
Kathy makes the otherwise painful process of decluttering quick and efficient with her non-judgmental and easy-going nature. While sorting through the clutter, we discussed the potential of each room, and she addressed all my questions and concerns. As space opened up, it became clear that there was too much stuff, and I had to make difficult decisions about what to keep or donate. Kathy understood the emotional aspects involved and talked through decisions with me when I struggled. If progress slowed, she applied just the right amount of pressure to keep things moving.
When it comes to organizational solutions, Kathy offers suggestions instead of imposing her opinion. Her solutions revealed her experience. For any need, multiple creative ideas were offered on the spot. The solutions were clever, practical, and easy to maintain.
Guided by the philosophy of reaping a simpler, calmer, and happier lifestyle, Kathy is an expert in all regards. Thank you Kathy! I could not have done it without you.
"Kathleen did a great job with organizing my attic and closets! I highly recommend her. I plan on having her come back to help me with my Christmas decorations and the rest of my house."
"Kathleen Green from Philly Home Organizer is exceptional because of the energy, determination and knowledge that she brings to her work. She helped me with difficult decisions on whether to keep items or not. She has helpful suggestions on where to find places for things in the home for optimal use. She carried out recycling things and delivered items to charities. I had a basement storage locker that I had not cleared out in years and with her help, items were sorted and moved out, and the locker was clean and tidy in a few hours. She is a hard worker who is also fun to spend time with. I recommend her without reservation!"
"Kathleen is in the middle of organizing me, my bedroom, office, pantry and many Fibber McGee closets; that she has not run screaming into the night speaks volumes about her skill, her humor and her patience. I cannot praise her enough; she has been able to help me see that so much of what I have, and have been hanging on to, is not necessary to me and would be of use to another so I have been able to let go of many things, something my family cannot believe. So besides her organizing skills, she is subtly persuasive in educating one about what you want to keep: space, order, neatness and the knowledge of where everything is. We are not nearly done but already it is affecting me in many positive ways. I would tell anyone who is in a mess to call her immediately and make the rest of your life a happy thing of order and sense. You will not regret it!"
"Kathy did a great job on helping me clean out a bedroom coming the next day. She has a great way of sensing just how much direction you need. We were able to get that room ready under 2 hours. I am very grateful. Kathy is currently helping me pack up a house to sell. I will post before and after pictures to this site in the near future."
"I love coming home to a nice clean and clutter free home. It is so peaceful. Instead of being right on time or late I am early. I can't believe how much time I would spend looking for things before it is time to leave. I am even sleeping better. Everything is better since she came and I even found over $250 in cash! Kathy offered so many suggestions and solutions to all of my challenges and issues in terms of organization. She changed my life! I would recommend her to anyone. She truly is phenomenal and the best at what she does.
"Kathleen listened to what I wanted to accomplish but also what my passions and hurdles are. She gave me some homework and an initial plan of attack. Thanks."
"Great service. Very very helpful!!!" -Mark
"Kathy came in and I actually felt a sense of peace. She is just what I hoped for! We worked together and she gave me great ideas for making my life much simpler. Yes, I highly recommend this wonderful woman
"It is with great pleasure that I write a this letter of recommendation for Kathy Green. Kathy has volunteered to assist our children's cause to bring hope and comfort for our children with life- threatening diagnosis by helping to set up our social media Pinterest site this past year. Her work with Pinterest has been impressive and invaluable. Kathy has excellent social media skills and has also demonstrated a great deal of enthusiasm in presenting our charity. As a result, we have benefited greatly from her innovative ideas and creativity. Susan and I, without reservation, would recommend Kathy for her social media skills, expertise and passion."

"I wanted to take a moment and thank you for your help with plowing through my mom's house- we just sold it on Friday. After working with you, I felt absolutely certain that we had not missed anything of value in the house. Moreover, the clothes, and usable items(dishes, etc.) went to
Goodwill, where I hope another family will be able to find a use for them.
I appreciate your candor, and your great work ethic- we went through some major stuff, and I appreciate your efforts to find a home for the piano and sailboat."
"What can I say about Kathy Green? The best thing that I have done was to call her to help me with my clutter and getting myself organized. Some people might say that I was a hoarder. Well, I really just bought anything that I wanted without thinking about the consequences. Things got so bad that I did not want to look for anything and I just bought more... from holiday decorations for every occasion to clothes and everything in between. With Kathy's help, my belongings are now down to manageable proportions. As a result, I now have a house that is in order, closets that are well-organized and I can even get into my garage now! I would highly recommend Kathy to anyone who wants to get their home organized like I did."
"Without your help, my office and home would still be full of things I don't need or want. With your guidance and expertise, others are benefiting from the donations made to the Salvation Army, churches for their bazaars and the recycle process, etc. Thank you, Kathleen ........"
"You always helped me stay organized in the art room!!" -Barbara
"I appreciate all your hard work for us. You worked very hard and did a fabulous job, Kath. Thanks so very much."
